Welcome to Vintage Cycle Werks Home Page
This Web site features information, photos and insights on collecting and restoring British Motorcycles. I should say thank you to Rieke Office Interiors for hosting the Museum. It seems that Todd's vocation and avocation crossed paths!
The Bikes
Vintage Cycle Werks is owned and operated by, Todd Rieke, Kevin Wills, and Skip Abare. We collect, restore, ride, and show Triumph, BSA and Norton's from the late 40's to 1977. We work in Elgin, Illinois at our 3,000 square foot museum/shop. We currently own about 40 bikes, most of them running and all of them leak, (just kidding).

Restoration
The process of restoring a 40 or 50 year old British motorcycle is addictive. It hits many emotions and ranges from very rewarding to incredibly frustrating. The educational process and the competency increases are slow but sure and sharing those with a couple of friends is really enjoyable. One of the many challenges is not taking any short cuts during your excitement to move forward. Joining local clubs is a must. People are anxious to help out and share their knowledge and resources. We are members of CNOC, Chicago Norton Owners Club, BBC, TIOC, BSAOC, AMA, 69 Club, etc.

Collecting
The process of collecting older bikes is one of the aspects we enjoy the most. Most of our bikes are nice fairly original unrestored runners. We enjoy the continual improvement process of making them as correct as possible without going overboard. All of our bikes are riders, although we are very careful without our museum quality bikes because it doesnt take much to deflate their value. We rarely sell any bikes, but we are always looking to buy our next sweetheart.
